Interesting drainage issue

There is a leaking pipe that shares the same drain with the condensate drain for the HVAC. This second pipe has nothing to do with the HVAC, they just share the drain.

The house was built with the ability to isolate specific faucets (yay) so I was able to determine that when I shut off the feed to the Master Bath/Shower the leak stops.

It seems to me like some type of pressure or overflow valve, but I have never heard of one being on the feed line like this.

Can someone explain what this is, and to let me know how easy/hard of a fix it is.

Best to post a photo of what you are looking at. There are so many different appurtenances on the market, your description is too vague. I know this response is a bit late in relation to the time of the initial post, but if you haven't called a plumber yet send us a pic.
