Water was leaking from underneath toilet after I had replaced the flanged wax gasket about 8 months earlier. Iron pipe is corroding but I can still fit bolt screws in and they will hold. Top of iron is slightly lower than the tiled floor.

Should I just install another flanged wax gasket? Or should I get one of those repair flanges that extends down into the pipe and has screws to tighten it outward?

Yes.

Though you have to be a little bit careful when using double wax seals, as I have seen this leak a few times. If you can find an extra tall wax seal, that is a better choice for someone without a lot of experience.
