In my line of work I am shocked at how many professionals incorrectly call and order the wrong type of water heater because they cannot correctly I.D. the venting types. Hopefully this will help not just professionals but homeowners as well.

second is direct vent - uses venting that comes with heater
third is power vent - single pvc pipe venting. Depending on mfr the length and qty of fittings is crucial.
fourth is power direct vent - two pvc pipes venting. Depending on mfr the length and qty of fittings is crucial.
