Hi,
The solenoid on my 5 year old Honeywell humidifier is not operating correctly as it constantly lets water through even when the humidifier/furnace isn't operational. I have to close the water supply valve in order to get the water flow to stop.

The Honeywell part number is 32001639-002 and when I search for that the part goes for around $100. (ouch) Some of the search results for that part # bring up a universal solenoid which is much cheaper.

Is it ok for me to install a universal solenoid or are they not recommended? The universal one looks much larger, which isn't an issue in and of itself, but I'm not even sure if it'll attach to the humidifier correctly. On the other hand I can't imagine they are selling this as a replacement part if it doesn't do the job.
