How to remove older Delta shower valve

I need to replace the cartridge in this Delta shower valve. I don't know how to remove the control handle.

The cap on the outer handle just pops off, there’s a screw under that to remove it. Then you can take the rest of the trim off and there’s a big retaining nut that holds the cartridge in
