My friend's toilet’s tank recently started taking hours and hours to fill. There does not appear to be any issues with the tank hardware. In addition to this, her washing machine's cold water started taking forever to fill. Her property was built in 1978 and has a well pump. Water pressure is low overall. My question is: could this be all due to hard water build up? If so (meaning everything is clogged because of hard water build up), how can this be fixed? Would some kind of water softener need to be installed and if so, would this break down the existing obstructions? Also, what can (or should) be done to increase water pressure? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated; thank you in advance!
