Help - I am getting some new insulation in my attic and the installer pointed out a strange pipe connected to my sewer stack. What is this? Can I plug it and insulate over it?

Hard to tell, but it looks like an old condensate line which was tied into the sewer line. It is obviously disconnected so I would remove and cap.

That is a very interesting piping situation. I would like to say that in 20 years in the trade I have never come across a situation like that before. What ever that pipe was tied into, is definitely against today's plumbing code, at least here in Canada.
