help identifying valve

started a shower remodel months ago - old trim kit long gone, learned now that new trim kits are valve-specific. No idea what kind of valve this is, so my project is on hold until I can figure out what trim kits will fit it.

thanks John - called Moen and confirmed it with them as well. much appreciated.

It is one of their better valves of that time period as it has stops, but it's not up to todays codes that require balance pressure.

could a good plumber remove/replace this with a modern one without having to remove tiles and wall? Is the hole big enough? No rear access either, as the rear side is another tiled shower.

It looks like it could be done. Depending on how much movement there is in the old piping the old one may have to be cut out.
