I have a burst freeze proof sillcock. I need to replace it but finding all of the replacement ones are either short or long. What are my options here?

I'd like to get a nicer one that won't burst if hose is connected (the Woodford Model 19 for example).

My old sillcock from the wall flange to the end of the threads is 5.5"

I just got a Model 17 Woodford and it is barely 5.25" Here is it's spec sheet
http://wcmind.com/woodford/Wall_Faucet_PDF/17CATALOG.pdf
(It says is should be 5.25" with the CP connection (4" wall + 1.25" cp)
The model 19 is same dimensions

That 1/4" is making the difference. I can't reach the threads in the wall.

I see Prier does custom lengths, but hoping for something simpler (and cheaper)

I can post pics if that helps.

Thanks!

Get the next size up Woodford 19. The wall flange slides to fit the install.

I’m embarrassed to say that didn’t fully occur to me. I recall thinking that but couldn’t get the flange to move on the 4” model. Felt I was pushing hard and didn’t want to break it. There must be some release tabs I didn’t see or I was pushing wrong. Thanks much.

Well, I called Woodford and asked if flange was moveable up the pipe. He said it would adjust only for pitch against the wall. It won’t float up pipe. If I tried it would likely break and I’d have wobble when I’d turn the faucet on and off.

Think I’m hosed. Pun intended.

So, could I use a 1/2” coupling like this?

Is there a thread locker I could use to ensure the coupling always stays on the faucet side and not on the plumbing side (in the wall) if I have to remove the faucet in the future? I don’t know if you can use thread locker and Teflon tape I mean.

What a pain.

Edit. I guess I could solder it. Worried about heat damaging the faucet though.

Solder a piece of copper onto a FIP then let it cool before threading it on

Interesting. All I install are model 19 12" and 15" models. The flange has always moved for me. Huh, they would know...
