Hello Everybody.

New to the Forum.
Thank-you for your help in advance.

I just replaced the Kitchen Faucet Seat, and I wanted a little advice.
I've attached a photo of the old seat and wanted opinions on what might have caused this groove.

I could only think that, on a microscopic level, it was the weakest part of the seat. If there were no other physical influences that you encountered, old age and wear and tear will show where the softest area of the metal is. How old is it?

looks like wire drawing... basically water carves a path over time.

That's pretty typical. That's why they designed them to be replaced.
Cheaply made from low quality alloys.
Higher grade alloys hold up better but are more costly to manufacture.

Yes, I am agree with Caduceus. May be this is weakest part and came down due to by just a soft touch.
