Situation: Dripping faucet - Customer wants it repaired, not replaced.
I've always replaced faucets. Repairing this looks straight forward but, I've never done it.
My perception of the steps:
1) Remove the cap on the handle to expose the screw that secures the handle to the stem.
2) Remove the handle
3) Remove the packing nut
(If there is enough room between the handle and the packing nut than steps 1 & 2 maybe avoided)
4) Remove the stem
5) Change out the washer
6) Re-install all
Questions & issues:
1) Handle to stem screw ceased in place
2) Handle puller needed?
3) Packing material needed?
4) Screw that holds the washer in placed is ceased and/or corroded
5) How to know what type and size washer is needed
6) Valve seat pitted, corroded and/or out of round
Your thoughts?
Anyone know good source of this type of replacement faucet?
