I am attempting to replace a cartridge on the cold water side of a sink. I failed to look closely at the old cartridge and how it was oriented. I am now having issue getting it installed properly so that turning knob towards you it turn on and pushing back turns off.

I have attached pictures of the cartridge in question.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Normally those types of stem have a small bump on the side that fits into a notch on the valve body. IF NOT
Look at the bottom picture. You have a ceramic disc type cartridge.
Turn the stem until the cartridge is closed.
You're going to need to look at the inside of the handle to figure it out.

Now that you know the cartridge is closed, does the handle fit on the stem and turn the direction you want. there is a tab inside the handle that will hit the raised tab on the stem preventing it from turning only a specific amount.
If not, you'll want turn the stem in the cartridge 180. Try the handle again.

What brand is it?

Looks like a Delta on top but I have not seen a ceramic cartridge like that before
