Hi folks,

I have a few things going on with my drainage in an older house, wanted to get opinions on this one - This is a 2 1/2 inch cleanout from the kitchen and I noticed a small drip. After inspecting the cap, the rubber is quite worn. Wondering if I can use automotive gasket maker - particularly ones designed for water pumps in case I am unable to find a replacement? Thanks in advance!

What about sheet rubber?

HD and Ace sell four inch or larger gasket material.

I have gotten bigger and thicker sheets from Ace.
Black or red rubber.

Trace the cover with a Sharpie.
Then cut the shape with good scissors or a razor knife.

I have done it several times when replacing a device that did not come with gaskets, or it came with the wrong type or shape.

Clean up the mating faces first, with a putty knife or a scotchbrite pad.
