I have an old under-sink sweated shutoff that says Eastern on the handle. The washer is evidently gone as it will not shut off water flow. I'm concerned about sweating on a new valve as the previous owner put a lot of spray foam insulation around it which I think is quite flammable. Furthermore, I don't know if there will be enough pipe extending from the wall (after cutting off the old valve) to install a compression fitting to attach a new valve with. I think there would only be about 1" of pipe. See attached photo.

The external size of the stem cap nut on a Brasscraft valve I have appears to be the same as on the Eastern valve. Does any one know if the Brasscraft stem and cap nut (or just the stem) might fit the Eastern valve?

Any other suggestions on ways to replace or fix this valve?
