Drum trap on tub in basement

I'm re-doing a basement bathroom built in 1950. It has a drum trap, in a concrete floor. Is it a good idea to go ahead and replace it with a p-trap? Should I use brass, or PVC for this application? It is in a corner, and after the tub is in place and the tiling re-done there is no access to the plumbing.

break the concrete and replace the trap, if it is lead pipe to the trap, replace it also.

Well, I'm guessing that I cut the trap out and tie in the new p-trap with a no-hub coupling. Any other things I should be doing?

use a proflex shielded transition band they make ones that fit

cast x plastic
copper x plastic

plastic x plastic

it makes a difference, the od of dissimilar pipes is different
