I have had water backing up into my basement for the longest time whenever a large quantity of water tries to drain (i.e. washing machine empties). Part of the problem is that the ABS elbow sits ON TOP of the drain opening in the floor instead of inside it. I could probably glue a piece of ABS on the end and insert that into the drain; only one problem... there is a line coming from my furnace that drains water at the same source and these two will not fit side by side into the drain opening. So, what to do?
