In a half-bath on the first floor of my home there is often a smell that is more dirt than sewage (think that earthy smell in a dirt floored crawlspace). This bath is between the kitchen and the laundry room (which has a large sink), but we never get the smell in either of those rooms. This portion of the house is on a slab, with the sink and toilet against an exterior wall. It is definitely stronger if the bathroom isn't used for a few days (if we are away, it is strong when we get back).
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Phil

I would remove the toilet and take a peek at the wax ring and the floor around the toilet flange. It's possible the wax ring is shot and you are picking up residual gasses from under the toilet.
