Well, to be fair, 7 posts from the OP with a bunch of responses, but no pictures or other followup, so yeah, probably time to call a plumber, unless they already have.

Coriolis effect. They also drive on the wrong side of the road as well. Be careful if you are on vacation and you cross the street because you could be looking in the wrong direction!

Are the car batteries backwards too? In the UK, some of their cars have POSITIVE ground electrical systems.

Not sure any more. My first car, a '62 Austin Healey Sprite, was positive ground.

Most everything in the world was positive ground until the 1950, but then it was found to cause chassis corrosion, and when vehicles switched to 12 volt systems and using alternators negative ground became the norm. Many old vehicles and tractors are still positive ground, it doesn't matter if it has a generator.
