Hello plumbing experts,
My shower handle broke and I am looking to find a compatible trim kit to fix the situation. The house was build in 2000, so I believe this means that the rough-in is not compatible with current trim kits, such as the Linden series that I had hoped to purchase. I base that thought on some info that I found in that the universal rough in’s started shipping in 2006 and all current trim kits are based there on.
Is this correct understanding?

I borrowed one of these rd10000 universal rough ins to see if it looks identical to the one depicted, and while it is quite similar, I Believe it is about half an inch shorter than the one currently installed.

Hence my questions
1: do I indeed have an old incompatible rough-in?
2: are there any more trim kits for these old ones available and if so, what is its name?
3: if 2=no, do I have any other options then breaking the wall to install a modernized universal rough-in?

Thanks a lot,
Pat

New trim kits will fit the old valve.

You must stay with the 13/14 series trim.

The cartridge is the only thing that’s changed that matters. If you want to replace the cartridge I can give you the part number.

That would be great to have, since I am already at it it makes sense to re place this 22 year old cartridge as well.

Thanks for both your replies. Is it correct that without changing the rough-in I won’t be able to use the 17-series, in particular I had this in mind:
Delta Faucet Linden 17 Series Dual-Function Tub and Shower Trim Kit, Shower Faucet with 4-Spray In2ition 2-in-1 Dual Hand Held Shower Head with Hose, Venetian Bronze T17494-RB-I (Valve Not Included) https://a.co/d/1O8lNCh

Correct, to change to the 17 series trim you would need to replace your rough valve to the updated RP10000.

The old rough valves were series specific. 13/14 series or 1700 series. There were two different rough valves.

Thank you! I ordered the 14 series Linden trim kit and valve. Seems that there is no option with a handheld shower combo like in the 17 series but I can live with that :)

Thanks again for your help!

Thank you all, I was able to finish the project with your recommended items!
