As the title describes, I am having what I believe to be an issue with copper tarnish I could use some assistance with. There is a copper sink in the home I am staying in and though we have been very careful to clean it regularly after using it, recently a spot we believed to be tarnish appeared. After purchasing and using Tarn-X cleaner it appears we have made the problem worse! I have included images of the progression and if anyone can help me I would be greatly appreciative.

Have a nice day!

tarnex is an acid, neutralize it with baking soda

then , all you can do is let time do its work
copper gets a patina with time, you can buy chemicals to hurry it along but you will never match the
patina that is already there. only time will match it

what you have is like a bad spot on a wall
you can not paint just the bad spot , you have to paint the whole wall

my advice
sand the whole sink with steel wool.
then final sanding using water and steel wool
then let the whole sink start its aging [patina] process all over again
