Cold Water Stinks

I bought a house (not brand new) and the cold water for the kitchen sink smells like "Rotten Eggs." This is the only water in the house that smells. What could be the problem. Also, no garbage disposal -- on septic system.

Look underneath the sink and see if there is some kind of filter on the cold water side.

The water may contain sulfur which causes the stinky smell. You can use house catalytic carbon filter to remove this smell.
