I went to flip the lever, and it was a little stiff. I used some force, and it didn't move. The lever broke. I know the lever kit is available as a replacement, but my stopper seems to be stuck in place. Is there anything I can do to free it and install a new one? Thank you.

Spray we-40 or mystery oil down the over flow let it sit ,get a metal coat hanger put a very small bend in it
Make it about 16 “ long then try your luck at hooking it if 16” is to long cut some off
Do you have access to the overflow piping from a closet or something like that???????

If none of those suggestions work, the waste/overflow should be replaced completely.
Plumbing code clearly states that slip joint w/o assemblies must have a permanent access panel. There are so many good reasons for this rule.

Thank you for the suggestions. I guess I have some things to try this weekend.
