Hi!

I need to replace or repair both of these hot/cold faucets. There's no water issue, but I have to use pliers to get the faucets to turn the water on by applying the pliers to the metal stem beneath the handles. The handles just spin around, so something must have snapped. I tried unscrewing the cold water handle, which is fastened by a philips screw, but I couldn't manage to unscrew it. These look like ancient faucets. Could I get replacements at Home Depot? Or is there some easy way to fix the handles? Tools to recommend?

Also is there a name for this contraption below, that attaches to both faucets, allowing for hot/cold water to be combined? Can I buy this at Home Depot, or is it a special order?

Here's a cheaper solution, but not very elegant:

:)

So I guess that's some custom-made thingamajig that i can't buy?

Any advice on how to fix the faucets or replace them?

Your existing faucets are cheap import replacements. Replace them with similar faucets which are readily available from every plumbing supply or big box store.
