Hi,
I have to build a platform for a bathtub in a basement to allow room for the drain pipes. What is the minum height this platmorm has to be. Will 2x6 be sufficent or do I have to go with 2x8?

Thanks

That is going to depend upon a lot of variables.

But, if the stack that you are going to tie into is right by the head of the tub, the bathtub is going to be an above-ground rough, and you use an 1 1/2' trap and trap arm, I wouldn't be surprised if you could get by with a 2x4 base. However, if you have to run a 2" pipe underneath the tub, with a standard inset rough tub, you will probably need every scrap of room that a 2x8 base would give you.

In that case, I would think that a 2x6 base would be sufficient. You mention that the inlet for the trap is 1" from the floor. I am not sure that will leave enough room to fit a trap above the floor, so you might have to chisel a little concrete.

yeah 2*6 or 2*8 is sufficient for bathtub.you should not go for more than that.
