Turned on the tap and took a brief shower after this bathroom sink hose connection failed; anyone here know about this design? Where I might find a replacement?

It looks like a proprietary flexible connector to connect a wide-spread lav faucet handles to the spout. Find the manufacturer name for the faucet and check their website or call their customer service number.

Do you have a picture of the faucet for identification? Fixitron is correct. This is proprietary to that faucet.
