Hi

The company that installed the well is not in business anymore.
The float switch is very short. Instead of being 10ft long, it is only
1 ft. long at the top of the tank. This does not seem right. The tank is full to capacity because of this.

What should I do?

pump it out and install a proper float would be the obvious solution, I recomend finding a plumber who specializes in this type of work and has a good reputation

There are very few plumbers if any out here that work on wells. How do I turn the pump off inside the well without cutting of the entire system off?

I would think that there would be a seperate control to turn off either pump.

But personally, to be on the safe side, I would shut down the power to both while working on either.

Always shut down all the power, and Even then, check with a meter to verify its off.

The system is not labeled. There is a pump motor drive. It controls the surface pump. If I disable the motor drive unit, the well pump still pumps water. If I cut the power, everything is disabled. I want to know what controls what. There is one control. It is a computer controller.
Is the well pump controlled on a seperate controller?
