I have a Zoeller 1/3hp sump pump and would hope that a 1500 watt inverter with initial surge of 3000 would be plenty. However, I was told that if the initial surge of the pump is a second or more, this inverter will not work. The initial surge of 3000 watts from the inverter to the pump is less than a second and if the pump takes longer than that, 1500 will not work.
I am guessing that on average, a 1/3hp sump pump can have an initial surge (starting watts) of 1300 to 1800 with running watts of around 800 (estimated). This inverter should be plenty but again, it's the amount of time it takes the pump for the initial surge.
Should I be ok with 1500 watts? I am purchasing online so any/all advice is appreciated!!
