How to stop gurgle noise in kitchen sink?

The kitchen sink does not have an AAV. Air bubbles seem to be coming up via the drain. I should also add that I've lived here 12 years & this is the first time this has happened.

How to stop gurgle noise in kitchen sink?

I've noticed in the last week that my kitchen sink (upstairs) makes a gurgling noise when either my shower (upstairs) or washing machine (downstairs) is on. Any ideas on why this is and how to fix it?

Request for advice on stopping loud pvc vibration in Jacuzzi

I had the motor/pump replaced on my Jacuzzi. After refilling the water and turning it on I found that it was creating a loud noise by vibrating the pvc pipe attached to it. When I hold it with my hand, it stops vibrating, stops making noise. Any suggestions on how to make it quiet?

How do I turn off, then later turn on the gas on my water heater?

I just did turned it back on...all is well. The red button didn't ignite it but putting a long nosed lighter in there while on the pilot setting...then turning it to the On position did the trick.

How do I turn off, then later turn on the gas on my water heater?

Thanks. I had to turn it off to use some "mold foggers" (they recommend turning off also sources that could spark the mist and presumably blow up my home). I turned off the gas line to the heater (turned the handle 90 degrees) and turned the position to Off. I will shortly be turning it...

Request for ideas re. stopping basement leak

This isn't a traditional plumbing issue but since this forum is full of good problem solvers I wanted to utilize everyone's brainstorming on this... For years I couldn't figure out what was causing periodic flooding in my basement after heavy rains. I had a crack in the patio filled, but...

leaksireland, thanks for your help. I'm curious as to why water pressure generally rises as night?

    Help Needed Solving Outside Leak

I'm trying to figure out how to approach an outside leak. I called a leak detection company and they charge up to $375 depending on equipment used, so this struck me as a good opportunity to try some DIY for locating, then fixing the problem. The leak first appeared as a large puddle on my...

    Water Heater Leak

The relief valve seems to be the issue. I spoke with a plumber this evening who suggested opening and closing it a couple times to see if that cleared out any sediment. That didn't seem to work and it's now leaking at a pretty fast rate so I'll probably have to just replace the valve unless...

    Water Heater Leak

Thanks for your help. The relief valve (is that also called the "temperature and pressure valve"?) seems to be closed (see new pic). It seems to perhaps be slowly leaking when the water is being heated. Any thoughts on how to get it to stay closed?

    Water Heater Leak

I recently had a PG&E (Pacific Gas & Electric) rep come out to look for a gas leak. In the process of looking over my system he apparently broke my water heater as for several days there has been a consistent puddle beneath it (see pic). They can't have someone out to fix it for a week, so I'd...

    P-trap replacement

Since last posting I found a "reducing washer" from a prior p-trap problem with another sink. This allowed me to use the wall pipe that came with my replacement p-trap. My wall pipe was too long but I was able to use a hacksaw to get it to the right length. Everything fit great with no leaks...

    P-trap replacement

Yes, the threads on the wall pipe are still fine. The part that broke off was the nut. I don't think I can put a replacement nut on the wall pipe, but I could be wrong. One thing I'm curious about is: how is the other end of the wall pipe connected? Not sure what I'll be getting into when I...

    P-trap replacement

I'm replacing a p trap and found that the pipe running from the sink is 1 1/4" and the pipe coming out of the wall is 1 1/2". The replacement p trap I bought is 1 1/4" which only works on the sink side. I could replace the pipe that comes out of the wall with the 1 1/4" pipe that came with my...

Jacuzzi - Slow Leak #2 - Looking for an external sealant.

Thanks for your advice, havasu. Unfortunately I only had room for one clamp on each side but will keep your guidance in mind in case I replace this Fernco in the future. Yes, I have your site bookmarked and plan to revisit since I'm committed to more D.I.Y. projects. I'm attaching the...

Jacuzzi - Slow Leak #2 - Looking for an external sealant.

Thanks for the input. I'm currently not using chlorine and I'll keep an eye on it over time to see how it holds up to the chemicals I use.
