Water Softener Backwash... are these setup ideas okay?

Even when the "pros" have contradicting "solutions"? Such as a third one that wants to punch through concrete and tie into my basement footing drain tile? And the one that wants to drill a hole through my stairs header? Bad idea. I'm not stupid. Even "pros" make mistakes. Some "pros" recommend...

Water Softener Backwash... are these setup ideas okay?

Wow, this forum is nearly useless. Bunch of complaining, judgemental people that have no idea what our situation is.

Water Softener Backwash... are these setup ideas okay?

One of the "professionals" wants to actually put the softener in a different place and cut through the header for our stairs to route the backwash. That's not even to code and weakens our stairs above. So no, I don't necessarily trust what they have to say, and will get more opinions on the matter.

Water Softener Backwash... are these setup ideas okay?

Yeah, you do sound rude. We were fully willing to pay others to get the job done (hence calling them in), but it turns out they'll only do half the job. Might as well do it ourselves, save the $1,000, and use that toward doing the outside trenching and work properly for the backwash. Most...

Water Softener Backwash... are these setup ideas okay?

We had two "water specialists" come by yesterday because we wanted to hear what their plans were with regards to water softener setup and backwash. We already decided that we absolutely will not permit the backwash to be tied into our (very small) septic system. We will do the work ourselves...

How to replace this kind of toilet flange?

See the picture: This is the flange I'm speaking of. If you look at the following picture, you'll see a tiny separation where I *think* the flange and the pipe meet: Now, I watched on YouTube people replacing flanges. From what I understand, there is an outside fit and an inside fit...

Clogged Kitchen Sink... kinked pipe? Or super clog?

We got it unclogged. There are FOUR 90 degree angles I had to get through at the very beginning (within the first few 5-10 feet). I got through 3 on my own, but finally when my husband came home, we could work together to get through the fourth 90 degree bend. He kept twisting the auger (it was...

Clogged Kitchen Sink... kinked pipe? Or super clog?

As for a plumber, that's why I'm posting on here. To get some thoughts. I went online on how to remove a toilet and I did just fine with that. My daughter had flushed a plastic carrot toy down the toilet (I didn't know that at the time), and so I looked up how to remove the toilet, and bought...

Clogged Kitchen Sink... kinked pipe? Or super clog?

It's very, very small particles. We avoid letting food go down the drain (like normal people), but sometimes you don't get everything. So these stupid plastic "catchers" catch the food, but they're useless because you can't do anything except force the food through. Apparently there has been...

Clogged Kitchen Sink... kinked pipe? Or super clog?

I was doing dishes the other night and cleaned the wok. It had little tiny bits of food, but not a big deal. We've lived here for the last 2.5 years, and never had an issue. The only issue we have is little bits of food will get caught in those stupid plastic "catcher" things that is just under...

    My pump has the flu?

Our pump has suddenly started sounding weird. Does anyone have any idea of what might be happening? Is it about to die? I don't want it to suddenly die and us be stuck without water! It also seems like it's sucking in air, because when I turn on the water, sometimes the water will "stutter" (if...

Hand Pump Water into Pressure Tank

Here is an example of what I "kind of" want to do: http://www.survivalistboards.com/showthread.php?t=155774 The only thing is, in this case it is a submersible pump. My pump is right in the basement. The other problem is that the drainage pipe that leads to the septic tank outside is several...

Hand Pump Water into Pressure Tank

If I wanted a generator, then I would have bought one already. Generators run out of gas. If there was any problems long term with no electricity, we would have a well and yet no water. It baffles me that we live in a society that we would just curl up and die if we didn't have fossil fuels or...

Hand Pump Water into Pressure Tank

I'm not sure I understand. I looked up the Oasis, and from what I am seeing, it needs to be directly over the well. The top of our well is outside, probably about 15 feet away from our house. There must be some kind of pipe running through ground and it comes into the basement, and then into the...

Hand Pump Water into Pressure Tank

I was wondering if it is possible to rig our electric pump so that during a power outage we can pump it by hand to fill the pressure tank. I read this link here http://www.popularmechanics.com/home/improvement/electrical-plumbing/1275136 and as far as I can tell, it is a single drop jet pump...

Purpose of cold water tank in basement?

I remember that my in-laws had a switch that reset the pump in case it stopped. For example, during a really dry summer, we used too much water that day and the well went dry, so the pump had an automatic shut-off. The pump had to be reset by a switch, and the switch was located by the water...

Purpose of cold water tank in basement?

We are looking to possibly rent a house in the country (Canada). The water supply is well water and everything runs on a septic system. I asked if there is a water softener system installed and she told me there was not. In the basement, there is a hot water tank (water heater), and beside it...
