    partial pipe joint glued

nope, the fitting is leaking - it's a tiny amount of leakage but still unacceptable. Too bad, because I'm going to have to cut the drainage system in three places and go back to the hardware store...

    partial pipe joint glued

Hi, on my final fitting, I couldn't connect the pipe and fitting the whole 1-1/2". I measured and I got 1-1/8" of the 1-1/2" that the fitting allowed. Is it safe to leave it as is or do I have to tear this whole thing up again?

    Replacing Basement Bathroom Plumbing

Hi LiQuId, I'm excited to be the recipient of good news! This, I have to admit, was beyond me and a frustrating process. But I am glad to not have given up. The two 90's on the tub vent were the only way possible for me to stay within the wall cavity (I am planning on framing a wall parallel...

    Replacing Basement Bathroom Plumbing

wow, you guys, thanks for your amazing help. I take this - hopefully final - mistake on me. The master plumber who gave me directions hasn't seen this yet. He probably mentioned the flood rim and I didn't get it. Okay, so here's my 4th attempt. I really hope that this will work out. Note: - the...

    Replacing Basement Bathroom Plumbing

Hello, i'm excited to report that I made progress on this project. I actually had a master plumber called in who was willing to give me directions in person. I've come a long ways since then and hope to satisfy all the mechanic requirements for this to work. Notice: I haven't actually connected...

    Replacing Basement Bathroom Plumbing

Hi John, this is a remodel project and the 2" vent is part of the layout how it was prior to me moving the fixtures. Before, the vent was there for the shower (now tub) I'm not 100% sure what's behind that but the main stack is only another five feet from the Main stack so I am guessing that it...

    Replacing Basement Bathroom Plumbing

Hi John, thanks for your help. I am going to try to get more details out of you, if that's okay: Did you see the 2" roof vent that is located very closely to the tub drain, on its way to the main stack? It's within 3 feet of the trap. Is that not close enough? I will change that! Thanks...

    Replacing Basement Bathroom Plumbing

Hi, I am replacing/moving tub and toilet in my basement bathroom. I would appreciate anyone's input/thoughts/suggestions before I pour the concrete back in :-) Link to a labeled pic: http://reimann.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/basement-bathroom-plumbing.jpg Thanks!!

180 degree turn in toilet drain

Hi LiQuid, thank you so much for your teaching/helping me. I couldn't appreciate this more! I apologize for not having been entirely clear. The 2" you presume went to the lav actually is a branch-off to the kitchen - which is vented separately - but very far away. You assumed correctly...

180 degree turn in toilet drain

Hi LiQuid, i marked the vent location in this picture with a V - it's a 2" vent pipe located in the laundry room: http://reimann.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/drains1.jpg I wouldn't mind running the tub drain at 2" entirely. You're saying that fitting the actual tub drain wouldn't actually be a...

180 degree turn in toilet drain

I will have to change my layout then to where I stay under 135 degrees with the toilet drain. Thanks so much for your guidance! The reason why I went with 1-1/2" for the tub drain was that I was under the impression that the tub drains required the pipe be 1-1/2". I pulled up this product...

180 degree turn in toilet drain

Thanks guys for your input. If I... - replace the 90 w/ two 45's and a nipple and - replace the Tee with a Wye coupled w/ a 45 would you let this configuration pass? Is the 135 degree rule on a horizontal run a builder's code? All I can find it for is code for clean-outs, not out ruling them...

180 degree turn in toilet drain

I am re-plumbing my basement bathroom and am second guessing my plumbing route for the toilet. It currently enters at a 90, runs for 16", enters another 90, runs for 8" and takes another 90 before it runs straight into the main stack. I can easily give it a steeper slope to speed things up but...
