    PVCI ?

Hi All, I just bought some schedule 40 PVC fittings and saw it actually says PVCI. I did a google search and found nothing that explained what the ‘I’ stands for. I wanted to get confirmation that these can be used (or not) with pressure (sprinkler system) before I install them. Thanks, Martha

Please help — I have an ongoing sewer smell/fly problem in my apartment

Have you talked to the previous tenant? Do you know it wasn’t a problem before? Do what Twowaxhack said. It sounds like that will solve the mystery.

Please help — I have an ongoing sewer smell/fly problem in my apartment

Just wondering if maybe the ac condensate drain was incorrectly tied into the plumbing drains?

Double Sink witt AAV slow drain and backs up into other drain

I hate to ask a question that is off topic from the original post, but since we’ve been off topic for a while I was wondering what bedding is good to use around the pipe instead of sand. My house is built on sand and there has been issues both with the foundation sinking and pipes sagging. I got...

What is this and what does it do?

Something to think about. It appears your electrical is grounded to that pipe. If you switch to pex you MAY be breaking the connection between the wires and the earth, if so the ground wires would need to be redirected to a ground stake outside.

Trying to replace this leaking heater with a tankless, please help.

You need to add these components to the water lines so you can flush the system with vinegar. If you dont ever service it, it will be shorted lived. note: I have heard the PRV is not necessary on a tankless (would like to hear what the pros here have to say about that), but the other valves are...

"Point of Use" or "Whole House Tankless"?

Thanks TWH. I have read other posts where you go pretty hard against people who disagree with you, so it is actually really good to hear you say that. It’ s not just hot water preferences to consider. The OP doesn’t want to take up the space in their small floorplan. Also, to replace a tankless...

"Point of Use" or "Whole House Tankless"?

To the OP. One other thought about why this stuff works better in Europe and is therefore more mainstream. Most of their stuff is made in Italy or Germany. Most of ours is made in China.

"Point of Use" or "Whole House Tankless"?

Twowaxhack is the expert, so I defer.

"Point of Use" or "Whole House Tankless"?

When I lived in greece they all had them or solar water heaters on the roofs. I wondered then, why they work there, but people in the US don’t think they would work. It was not long after we returned to the states the tankless began becoming popular here. The US seems to always be behind on this...

"Point of Use" or "Whole House Tankless"?

TwoWax is correct that Stiebel Elton is the best tankless, because you can use more than one fixture at a time. Most tankless will turn one fixture cold if the other fixture is used. The Elton lowers the pressure to compensate, but both will be hot. However, for a one bed one bath the largest...

    Kitchen faucet water line leak

Hi, I am a homeowner and cannot solder. When I read your post I thought what an easy fix it is. Twowaxhack nailed it. Literally a 5 minute fix, and not just for an experienced plumber. You can totally do this using the parts he linked for you. To cut the pipe get a copper pipe cutter like this...

Plenty of pressure but not water from faucets - I'm lost

If the sand is clogging the faucet aerator changing the line at the shut off wouldn't change that. I always think you should start with the simplest explanation and go from there. unscrewing the aerator on the faucet would be my first move.

Plenty of pressure but not water from faucets - I'm lost

I am assuming the sand you are referring to got in the pioe while you were running the line. Did you take the aerators off the faucets to see if it is clogged with sand? the toilet intake and shower head also have screens that could be clogged.

    2 inch toilet drain pipe

I think your landlord was saying it is a low flow toilet with a 2” flush valve, not that the house has 2” waste pipes.

horizontal wet vent mock up, Please advise

UPDATE: Frodo, I wanted to let you know I completed the drains as you drew them and it passed inspection, and as promised, I will NEVER attempt a drainage system again. The reason it took so long was, while I was doing the belly crawl in the crawlspace I pulled a muscle ( one of the obliques)...

    Washing machine and utility sink?

You didnt say what the problem is with the sink. Is it that it constantly gets clogged with all the lint coming from the washer? If thats all it is they make a strainer you attach to the end of the hose (see link) or my mom always cut the feet off her old nylons and attaached them with rubber...

[Desperate for help] Is there no way to save my bathroom sink anymore?

I found this video that may be helpful. The pros here would need to say whether this guy knows what hes talking about or not.

    Element Exploded

Is there any chance it was turned on before the tank was full of water? I’ve always heard that the element will blow if dry when heating, and if that happens it could damage the wiring, which would mean just replacing the element would not fix it? Just a thought.
