I'm definitely not a plumber, but had a situation that appears similar. The old connection I replaced had a flat rubber gasket/washer. The only replacements I could find in the home improvement stores were the plastic pipes with the opaque plastic beveled slip washer (?) like what you show...

It may be possible that the elements open up when the get hot. It is unlikely both would, but based on what you have said, there aren't many options I can think of.

Need a tub/shower valve/trim to replace an old 3 handle faucet. Problem is the wall is 2 1/4" thick (metal lathe/concrete/tile) and a standard faucet I purchased would not work on the thick wall. Anybody got any ideas as to what valve/trim will work? If I have to I will upgrade to a single...
