    Single stinky faucet

Thank you Tom. Would an anode rod in the water heater affect ALL the plumbing in the house instead of just the one faucet? It's just a bit curious as to why the smell is only coming from mostly the cold water in one sink and not anywhere else in the house. We have a tankless water heater and...

    Single stinky faucet

I bought a home last year that has a finished basement with a bathroom that has a toilet and sink. Over the last couple of months we've noticed a rotten egg smell coming from the sink but we do not smell this from the any other plumbing fixtures in the house (basement toilet, kitchen sink...

Was this once a toilet drain? And can it be converted?

Hey everyone, I was cleaning out my basement in our recently purchased home and I found this hidden under some loose boards on the floor. My *guess* is that there was once a toilet hooked up to it. The upstairs bathroom toilet drains into the ground about 7 or 8 feet away from it on the right...

Finished basement sink hooked up to two traps and gurgles when draining

Ahh I imagine you're referring to the 7-8 feet for installing the AAV on the exposed section of piping that comes out behind the wall in our closet. Here's what we have to work with under the sink. Is there enough room to add an AAV?

Finished basement sink hooked up to two traps and gurgles when draining

Thanks Mr. David. Perhaps I'm dealing with a two-part issue - issue one being the lack of a vent (which would make sense) and issue two being the double trap (which would also make sense). Can you elaborate on the last comment about the exposed section of the drain possibly being too far away...

Finished basement sink hooked up to two traps and gurgles when draining

Thank you! You said "and other issues" - what could some of those other issues be? Is this something we should take care of right away?

Finished basement sink hooked up to two traps and gurgles when draining

Hi everyone, I posted a similar thread previously but thought I'd expand on it with a new post. My wife and I bought a home a few months ago and we discovered that the sink in the finished basement gurgles when it drains (and then makes a dripping sound for a few minutes after)...

Loud draining + dripping sound from basement sink

It is further than 5'. It's probably closer to 7'-8'. Do you think air caught between the two traps could be what's causing this?

Loud draining + dripping sound from basement sink

Thanks Mr. David! That would be what I suspected based on some things I've read. The water doesn't appear to leave the trap though and we haven't noticed any sewer smells so that's a good thing. This sink and toilet were draining to a second septic tank that we discovered a couple of weeks ago...

Loud draining + dripping sound from basement sink

Hi everyone, My wife and I purchased a home a few months ago and there's a finished basement with a bathroom. When we run the bathroom sink it seems to drain just fine while the water is running. After the water stops it makes a loud gurgling noise which is then followed by a dripping...
