    Pump won't pump water

So put the gasket back on and still doesn't work. Water not leaking from the pump housing though. Anyways... I took a better look at the parts diagram and my parts. My best guess at this point (and I have never taken a pump apart before) is that the impeller is not turning. I can't...

    Pump won't pump water

I had a manual switch where I turned off the pump. I was planning to put in a 60 minute spring timer just for cases where I forgot to turn the switch off manually. But since everything was going well, I just never got around to it. Anyways... took the motor off and the gasket broke. The...

    Pump won't pump water

I have a pump I end up using just for general yard watering. It ended up running overnight. Usually is shuts off on its own and I switch the power off. I ended up not switching the power off and heard it running the next morning. Anyways... Symptoms are: - It sounds like it is pumping...

    Water Heater Replacement

I don't think our hot water usage is really that much (there are two of us but sometimes we have our kids home). I have never heard of a recirculating system. That sounds like it might work.

    Water Heater Replacement

My house currently has two water heaters: a 40 gallon on one side of the house for the laundry and an outdoor shower and an 80 gallon that was originally connected to a roof solar water heater panel, but was disconnected and just heats using the element inside the water heater now. My big...

New Pump for old shallow well

Got a Sta-Rite cast iron pump installed. Works great. Only issue I had was that it had been so long since I did irrigation piping that I forgot about outside diameter versus inside diameter for the fittings. Thanks for all the help.

New Pump for old shallow well

OK, so I can find a 1/2 HP Sta-Rite FNC Shallow Well Jet Pump for $200 online. The SNC-L version is $240. That's the same as Lowes or Home Depot(?!?!). Last question then, is there anything I should do to extend the life of the pump? It is going to be outside, but should I make/get a cover...

New Pump for old shallow well

Thanks for the good info. So how can you tell which Sta Rite / Myers is a good pump? A quick check online shows variations of 1/2 hp (StaRite / Franklin) Shallow Well Jet Pumps for $200-$275. Also, if I need a pressure tank, what size would I need? I only have 115V available. Would a...

New Pump for old shallow well

OK... let's get a little further details then. First, I am not interested in spending a bunch of money if my well is dry. Should this be a concern of mine? If so, how would I test it? (BTW, I am by the beach in Venice). Second, I get the idea of getting a quality pump, but even then, if all...

New Pump for old shallow well

I am looking to get an outdoor well back up and running. The details: * As best as I can tell, the well is an old shallow well pump (in Florida) maybe 30+ years old * The depth, as best as I could tell, is 25 ft or so. * I got it up and running 17 years ago when I bought the house...
