Is your ankle doing any better, Matt?
I'm still sick. I keep starting to get better and then it comes back. Right now it's my sinuses. Weather is nice and cool but it's been raining a lot.
Police report wasn't ready until Oct 30th but last I checked, the truck hasn't been assessed yet. Reporting cop lied like a mofo to protect the other driver- didn't mention he crossed in to oncoming lane, didn't mention he tried to pass in a no passing zone, didn't mention he'd been drinking, lied about the speed limit to say he wasn't speeding (said it was 55 zone but it was 45), and lied & said I wasn't paying attention. But, my insurance said it was clearly the other driver's fault. Only problem is, they've been dicking around with the guy who towed my truck about paying him & getting it taken to the repair shop. It was supposed to be towed last week, but they didn't authorize it. I'm waiting to hear from someone on whether or not it ever got towed and assessed. They don't let the body shop people do an estimate, they come out and tell them how much they will authorize for repairs. I'm going through my insurance to avoid getting jerked around by the other guy's insurance, but I might have to file a claim to be compensated for what my insurance doesn't cover-- like my deductible and other stuff.
And I just spend $246 getting a cat vaccinated and spayed.
I pulled the valve stem on the hot water & took it to the hardware store but didn't realize until I got there that the screw and washer didn't come out with it. I thought maybe it fell off into the wall, but when I got home and checked it was still in the valve seat. Tried Lowes & HD but neither had a matching stem. HD had a book & the guy found what might be the match, but it wasn't in stock. I'm going to have to get some pliers and carefully pull the screw & washer out to see if I can take a look at the valve seat. Got the tool to remove it as well as some extra washers and screws. My phone was acting up so I wasn't able to take a picture of the valve stem while it was out (I put it back so I could turn the water back on). I used my brother's phone to snag a photo of inside the wall. Looks like they put a wooden board up against the tub surround as a brace & drilled through it for the valve body & stem. Speaking of the valve body, while I was at Lowes, a customer was looking for "the metal thing that goes around this thing" (he held up the valve stem). I told him he was looking for the valve body, but it didn't appear that they had any in stock.
I would really like to just tear the old tub out and put in a shower unit. I have an oooold thread on it that I'd like to necro for that topic though. I'm debating shower surrounds & slidebar options.
Picked my kitty up from the vet after the spaying. She's cranky but happy to be home. My kitty, Biscuits, slipped out the other day while I was trying to carry groceries in to the kitchen & I haven't seen him. Normally he comes back in on his own, but I don't know if something happened to him or if the dog just keeps scaring him off. I'm hoping he will come back in or that I can find him if I go out and look for him. He and his sister, Hatshepsut, kept zerging through the door every time I opened it. Hattie is easier to catch though.
My best friend found the right size bolts/screws for my brother's truck so that has been taken care of. He's happily driving to work in it & I've been parking the CR-V in front of the car port instead of the house so he gets to park in front of the house, which makes him happy. I actually moved the CR-V to be away from the tree bc it dropped a branch and a full oak tree (which was maybe 50 to 100 yrs old) completely fell during a massive windstorm. I'd been wanting to have it cut down bc it was dropping leaves in to the outside AC unit. It fell in such a way that it missed the house, missed the car, & missed the car port, but it took out more of the fence.
I snagged a few photos but they aren't very clear.
Just for "funsies" I'm including some pictures.
Here is Princess the morning after the windstorm.
This is Fry. He's the foster kitty we ended up keeping who is also the father of the kittens. He was talking to me when I snapped the picture.
Here's my dog Brenda sleeping in the hallway with her head in a bucket. No idea why. I really need to vacuum that floor...
Here's the screw & washer still inside the valve seat in the wall.
I need to get my brother to send me a couple other photos he took for me while my phone was being derpy.
