My cat passed away in my arms on very early Saturday morning. Fortunately, she went quickly, but I miss her. She was the last of my tail-less kitties and there is only one kitty remaining from the litter. I'm worried he might be sick because he's lost some weight. I'll have to keep a close eye on him.
The old dog scraped her hip on something (probably while lying down) and it scraped the skin and there's a small wound. I'll have to take her in for a bath and some antibiotics. The other dogs are doing well at least. The youngest one likes to play with the chiweenie & instead of getting upset when she goes into the room with him, he gets excited and wants to play. But he gets out of breath quickly since he's overweight. The younger one is good about it and patiently waits for him to catch his breath and resume playing.

I've basically just been having to clean up after the pets & take care of my mother. Walmart came out with some potatoes that have already been washed, poked, & wrapped in microwave-safe plastic & instructions for microwave cooking are on them. Six minutes in the microwave and then mash & add butter.

Sorry to hear about your pets. Its a hard thing to go through. Hope your mom is doing better. Did you ever get your faucet
apart and repaired.

Thanks guys. I'm hoping the brother of the kitty who passed doesn't have what she had. He's one of my favorites because he's my little cuddle monkey. But I can see that he's not feeling well. Unfortunately, my vets kinda suck & aren't good at diagnosing. The bloodwork to find out is expensive and if it turns out he has it, there's nothing they can really do but treat his symptoms & life expectancy is only around 2 years afterward. So, I'm debating whether or not to put him through the testing. However, I still want to bring him in just in case it's something they can treat.

Tom, I'm ashamed to say I haven't gotten it fixed yet. I haven't found the right time to go in when my brother is awake (to move furniture) and my mother isn't sleeping. I was spending a lot of time with the sick pets comforting them & then running errands. Plus I'm just a major procrastinator.

My friend's fiance broke her arm (near her wrist) so now they both have injured left arms & can't drive. She needs me to take her to an appointment at 8am on Tuesday at a place over an hour away.

Drove 3-hrs one way, to check a hand pump in a campground that has quit working.

Pump is set at 65-ft. Dropped a sounder down the well, and found water at 14-ft. So, it isn’t dry.

Tried pumping some water, and got a little out. Also got some strange red plastic, that looks like the shrink tube used on wiring.

Have to go out in a couple of weeks and lift the pump. I’m guessing we will find more of whatever the red stuff is in the valves of the pump.

Weird. I wonder how it got there. Hopefully the pump isn't ruined and you can get the junk out.

So Domino, My almost blind Rat terrier is pissing all over the place.
Can't just toss him outside and leave him there.
Can't just throw him in a crate.
I made a Corral and banished him to the kitchen.
We I do take him out and I see him pee he's good for 2 or 3 hours so then he can hang around outside the corral.

Went to this property . They had 3 previous plumbers and Leak detection service check out a leak and all said it was on the City side of meter.
City said it was not theirs.
So some one dug up the front and even opened concrete in the back of building.
management says they don't know who dug it up. ???
So they called us out.

IMG_7072 (768x1024).jpg IMG_7073 (768x1024).jpg

I found a meter 3 properties up the street with water flowing up around the corporation cock.
Leak is before the meter, which belongs to the city.
The water is not flowing out of box but under concrete sidewalk
They have been looking and digging for this leak for over a month.

Have him checked for diabetes. It causes frequent urination when uncontrolled. The kidneys, will actually dehydrate a dog until it kills them if left untreated.

Mr_David, I'm glad you found the leak. The day you posted that was my birthday. I was sick all day-- actually was sick from late Sept onward. Just finally getting over it.
So, of course as I was driving home Saturday night, a drunk driver had to go and try to pass me in the left lane when I was turning left. Busted my fender, tire, headlight, bumper, & bent my hood on front driver side.
I don't think there is any frame damage, but I'll have to wait and see. The good news was that no one was seriously hurt. The other driver totaled his truck though. He spun sideways after impact and his truck slid offroad for 20 to 30 ft & his gas tank busted open. I had to call 911 to let them know about the gasoline pouring out of the other vehicle. I got to meet quite a few EMTs and cops from town and the Parish sheriffs. I was out of the town cops' jurisdiction but they had to control traffic.
Now begins the "fun" of dealing with insurance agents & repair shops. I'm not going to let the previous repair shop (the "preferred" one for my insurance company) touch my vehicle. I don't want orange-peel textured paint. I also didn't let the default towing service for the town touch my vehicle after the way he treated me when he towed the last one. Guy is a total dick. So the cops called MY preferred towing service who came right away and loaded my truck on a flatbed. Said I can talk to him on Monday to see where I want it towed for repairs.
Another annoyance is that the guy never gave me his info even though I tried to get it and the cops wouldn't tell me his name or insurance policy #-- but the cop did come up and tell me that it was absolutely the other guy's fault completely. I had my turn signal on and he went in to the oncoming lane of traffic to pass me and even when he saw me turning, he kept going (gunned it to try to get ahead of me).
He's from the volunteer fire dept so he ran over to check on me and was really upset, but he'd been drinking & only had liability insurance so he was in deep kimchee.
I know it could be much much worse so I'm grateful for that. Everyone at the scene was nice. They didn't even look at me funny when I hugged my truck before they loaded it up.
One humorous moment was when we heard a woman further down the road hit a 6-point deer. One of the EMTs was asking if they had picked the deer up yet bc he wanted deer stew.
It was very dark so pics aren't great (no street lights in the area & the flashing caution light above didn't help).

I wonder if I can get "mental anguish" compensation from his insurance from all this. LOL. I like the CR-V, but Reggie is my favorite.

I’m sorry to hear about your cat Zanne....losing a pet is never easy.

Yesterday I had my first minor accident at work which has left me with a badly sprained ankle. I’m not the type to sit still so being home today is driving me absolutely crazy.

Thanks, Matt. I hope your ankle heals quickl. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation is the key. Also, if you wrap your ankle yourself, I recommend starting from the foot and working up rather than from the ankle and working down. The latter seems to cause swelling. If you sprained your left one, you'll want to wrap clockwise-- counterclockwise if it's your right ankle. It can be frustrating when you can't get up and do stuff.

Right now I'm frustrated with the insurance company and the cops. Local insurance agents are a joke & completely unhelpful. I called to ask the cops if they could at the very least tell me the other driver's name. Nope. Not in the computer yet. Have to wait 10 days for the report. Towing guy said that was longer than usual, but was very reassuring & saying not to worry & that he'll do what he can to help. He's going to give me an estimate on repairs sometime today.

I know at the very least I need a new fender, inner fender, headlamp/bulb, bumper, tire, TPMS sensor, & the various clips/screws/bolts/nuts. I might need the bumper reinforcement, bumper retainer, bumper mounting bracket, fender lining, and hood (if they can't get the bend out). I priced out some of the stuff I will most likely need just to see how expensive it would be to get it from rockauto. Part prices weren't so bad, but then it calculated shipping.

Something doesn't quite add up. This *has* to be a mistake or they just have very bad business practices.

Geez, shipping costs are a killer down there Zanne!
I kept reloading the page and asking it to do the calculating & it kept giving the same thing, so I contacted the company & posted the screenshot. They never replied but they seem to have fixed it. It was just a glitch. Waited a few hours & loaded again. Shipping was $173 instead. Not too bad considering the weight of fenders.

Turns out the inner fender & fender lining are the same part. The back part of the fender is undamaged and the dent isn't very deep so I'm not sure if any of the inside brackets are damaged. I talked to the towing guy & he told me that usually the insurance adjuster looks at the vehicles & tells him what all they will fix on it and he orders the parts from Baton Rouge & they deliver them to him and he does the work. But he said he'll give me a list of what I need so I can try to find parts but I know he's been very busy & I've been busy taking people to doctor appointments. Tuesday was my friend's fiance to find out if her arm has healed (75% healed but still needs the brace). Wednesday was to pick up my mother's new glasses & take her to the foot doctor to have her toenails trimmed & sanded with a dremel tool. I was planning to turn off the water and pull the valve stem to take to Lowes but my mother slept in & then said there wasn't time. I wanted to wait until she was up & got to use the bathroom and wash up before I turned the water off. By the time she was done she said she didn't want me to do it bc we didn't have time. We thought getting the glasses would take a long time but it ended up taking less than 3 minutes.

Went to the Honda dealership and was asking the parts guy what he thought I would need & he said he just ordered the parts the bodyshop people told him to order and didn't know. I asked about what screws or bolts were needed on the sunroof- he said he'd never heard of the sun roof coming off before. But he did tell me how much of each kind were needed on the sunroof. Dealer price was $2 each plus tax. Online price was 35cents each but $12 shipping. I'm going to see if I can somehow find them on e-bay or find a vehicle that uses them at the junk yard and remove them. They are used on parts other than the sunroof.

I went to Walmart and shopped in peace while my mother sat in a chair bc we couldn't find a working riding cart. I found everything on the list & was finished in 7 minutes but then I made the mistake of looking for a riding cart for my mother so she could ride it out to the car. She decided she wanted to go shopping. About 45 minutes later (which is short for her) we made it to the checkout. We then stopped in at the auto parts store where my friend works but he wasn't in. I was talking to the clerk & mentioned the accident on Saturday. Turns out he was one of the responders at the scene. It was so dark I hadn't really seen his face & didn't recognize him & he didn't recognize me. It also turns out that he was the one who answered me on the phone at the sheriff's office and said he couldn't give me the info. Once he knew I was friends with his co-worker & understood my predicament he told me to call back Friday after 8:00pm & to ask for him by name and he would give me the name and policy # so I can get things rolling on my claim-- he then said "but lose my name after that". It really was info that the driver should have given me at the scene anyway.

Hopefully that will help with getting estimates & finding out what parts I need. I still need to get photos. I might go out to the impound lot and get some pics in daylight and get some of the charging cords & converters out-- forgot about them when I was grabbing stuff out before it was towed.

Is your ankle doing any better, Matt?
I'm still sick. I keep starting to get better and then it comes back. Right now it's my sinuses. Weather is nice and cool but it's been raining a lot.
Police report wasn't ready until Oct 30th but last I checked, the truck hasn't been assessed yet. Reporting cop lied like a mofo to protect the other driver- didn't mention he crossed in to oncoming lane, didn't mention he tried to pass in a no passing zone, didn't mention he'd been drinking, lied about the speed limit to say he wasn't speeding (said it was 55 zone but it was 45), and lied & said I wasn't paying attention. But, my insurance said it was clearly the other driver's fault. Only problem is, they've been dicking around with the guy who towed my truck about paying him & getting it taken to the repair shop. It was supposed to be towed last week, but they didn't authorize it. I'm waiting to hear from someone on whether or not it ever got towed and assessed. They don't let the body shop people do an estimate, they come out and tell them how much they will authorize for repairs. I'm going through my insurance to avoid getting jerked around by the other guy's insurance, but I might have to file a claim to be compensated for what my insurance doesn't cover-- like my deductible and other stuff.
And I just spend $246 getting a cat vaccinated and spayed.

I pulled the valve stem on the hot water & took it to the hardware store but didn't realize until I got there that the screw and washer didn't come out with it. I thought maybe it fell off into the wall, but when I got home and checked it was still in the valve seat. Tried Lowes & HD but neither had a matching stem. HD had a book & the guy found what might be the match, but it wasn't in stock. I'm going to have to get some pliers and carefully pull the screw & washer out to see if I can take a look at the valve seat. Got the tool to remove it as well as some extra washers and screws. My phone was acting up so I wasn't able to take a picture of the valve stem while it was out (I put it back so I could turn the water back on). I used my brother's phone to snag a photo of inside the wall. Looks like they put a wooden board up against the tub surround as a brace & drilled through it for the valve body & stem. Speaking of the valve body, while I was at Lowes, a customer was looking for "the metal thing that goes around this thing" (he held up the valve stem). I told him he was looking for the valve body, but it didn't appear that they had any in stock.

I would really like to just tear the old tub out and put in a shower unit. I have an oooold thread on it that I'd like to necro for that topic though. I'm debating shower surrounds & slidebar options.

Picked my kitty up from the vet after the spaying. She's cranky but happy to be home. My kitty, Biscuits, slipped out the other day while I was trying to carry groceries in to the kitchen & I haven't seen him. Normally he comes back in on his own, but I don't know if something happened to him or if the dog just keeps scaring him off. I'm hoping he will come back in or that I can find him if I go out and look for him. He and his sister, Hatshepsut, kept zerging through the door every time I opened it. Hattie is easier to catch though.

My best friend found the right size bolts/screws for my brother's truck so that has been taken care of. He's happily driving to work in it & I've been parking the CR-V in front of the car port instead of the house so he gets to park in front of the house, which makes him happy. I actually moved the CR-V to be away from the tree bc it dropped a branch and a full oak tree (which was maybe 50 to 100 yrs old) completely fell during a massive windstorm. I'd been wanting to have it cut down bc it was dropping leaves in to the outside AC unit. It fell in such a way that it missed the house, missed the car, & missed the car port, but it took out more of the fence.

I snagged a few photos but they aren't very clear.

Just for "funsies" I'm including some pictures.

Here is Princess the morning after the windstorm.princessnov2018.jpg

This is Fry. He's the foster kitty we ended up keeping who is also the father of the kittens. He was talking to me when I snapped the picture.FryNov2018.jpg

Here's my dog Brenda sleeping in the hallway with her head in a bucket. No idea why. I really need to vacuum that floor... brendanov5-2018headbucket2.jpg

Here's the screw & washer still inside the valve seat in the wall.valveseat1.jpg

I need to get my brother to send me a couple other photos he took for me while my phone was being derpy.

That dog sporting a hangover with to much to drink last night or just try to get some quite time?;)

LOL. The dog has always been strange.
Princess is a good little doggy. I was eating a chicken sandwich and one of the cats (the one who catches the mice) was trying to steal chicken out of it. She managed to steal a piece of lettuce so I pulled the sandwich away and put it right in Princess' face. It touched her nose. But I didn't look at her or give her permission to eat it so she didn't try to bite it. She just put her tongue out the side of her mouth to lick her chops without touching the sandwich. I gave her some chicken out of it as a reward.

My truck has been assessed and the repair guy has ordered the parts. I'm hoping the insurance will cover the full repair cost.

I made some stoufer's stovetop stuffing last night. I added chicken bullion cube & garlic salt then mixed in some shredded rotisserie chicken. It turned out well.
