My upstairs toilet has started running into the bowl at the end of the fill.

It flushes ok and then fills ok, but towards the end of the fill (for around 10 to 15 seconds) water runs from the
tank into the bowl then it stops filling and all seems well.

I'm thinking it's probably something that needs to be cleaned or adjusted but I don't know what.

Any advice would be greatly received.

TIA, Skoot

Most of this gang is US based, so, will not be able to help much…sorry

Please take a picture of your tank components and post them up in order to see what you have.

OK, I finally got round to taking the top off the cistern.
Water is flowing into the overflow and then into the toilet bowl for about 18 seconds after the level reaches the top.
I tried adjusting the black screw thing on the left hand side but it didn't make any difference. I can't see any way of raising the level of the overflow so I'm stuck.

Any suggestions, please?

That’s a fluidmaster ballcock.

Look up how to adjust it. Or just replace it. It’s nothing special. They cost $8

I tried adjusting it, but it made no difference.

I've bought a replacement. I'll fit it tomorrow. They must be cheaper in USA, it cost me 25 bucks. :(
