I just hope they have decent installers who can repair the other stuff around and not charge too much. Install will probably cost more than the door itself.

I thought about french doors but we don't have the space to open the doors inward and we don't have anywhere to step out of both doors if they open outward. There is just one small set of steps on the side where the sliding glass door opens.

Doctor got mom in for an urgent appointment today because her blood sugar is staying too high even when she's not eating. She was sent to get bloodwork and they will see if she needs to be hospitalized to lower her sugar. Hopefully not. And she was told to double the dose of the new insulin. And eventually supplement with the fast-acting insulin. He gave her a chart of how to determine just how much of the fast-acing to take-- once they approve it. He also said that he overheard the NP arguing with the diabetes supply place about getting the insulin pump and that they are not cooperating. They keep telling me they haven't received all of the info yet and she insists she's sent it multiple times.

Ran out of test strips for her finger stick glucose monitor. Don't know what happened to them. The box is missing and it wasn't empty. I looked all over the floor and area around where it could have fallen with no luck. She's also running low on the Dexcom sensors and I don't know if/when they will send more.

New freezer is very cold but also very hard to open. Whole thing pivots and my brother wasn't able to open it. He yanked the handle and the whole freezer moved. I found that slipping my fingers under the seal would let it open. It has magnetic seal.

In a bit of sad-but-expected news, the doctors confirmed that my friend's wife miscarried but they aren't doing the d&c yet. They are giving her meds that will cause her to flush it out. So, basically inducing labor. She's heartbroken.

Is the freezer full? If not full, the suction pulled as the warm air is cooled will be powerful. Less air and more food will make it easier to open. Sounds like the seal is working as it should!

So sorry about your friend……

To wit: The air inside a fridge or freezer “shrinks” as it gets colder. This can, sometimes, create an air pressure disparity, which makes it difficult to open the door. If the door is closed quickly, air will be forced out and it may take several minutes for the air pressure to stabilized, after which the door can be opened with normal ease.

Dealing with law enforcement, insurance companies, and crooks!!!

Our daughter and her significant other live in a medium-rise apartment building with an attached parking garage that is patrolled by security services. Last night between approximately 0300-0400, no less than six Honda Accords parked there had all four wheels removed by a single individual who didn’t even have the courtesy to leave the cars on block but, rather, left them with disc brakes on the concrete! The nerve of that thief!! Incredibly fast worker too!

To add insult to injury, it was the kid’s birthday!

That’s tough!!😞
Maybe you can throw a re”tire”ment party for them. 😉

Yeesh. Sounds like security was sleeping on the job. Or it was an inside job. I've heard Honda accords are thief magnets.

Anyway, I'm back after a few days without electricity. Power went out around 6:30pm on Thursday. They didn't try to send anyone out until Saturday and then they restored power to everyone except me. Literally everyone else in my area had lights but they forgot to turn mine back on. Power was back to everyone else by 6pm Saturday but they didn't get mine on until afternoon on Sunday. No reason for it either. There were no downed lines or damaged lines. They forgot to flip a switch to turn it back on basically. And we lost all of our insulin and all of our cold food. Would not have lost it if they'd restored our power when they restored everyone else's. I'm more than a little bit pissed off about it.

It got up to 90 and I felt like I couldn't breathe. They also wouldn't answer the phone. This is after they just doubled our rates. We're looking in to getting a solar package now. Want to be rid of these clowns.

I am sure you know that solar isn’t the be all, end all solution to keeping the lights on when the lights go off. If I had my druthers, I’d look into a whole home backup E/G or at least a portable one to take care of the critical things like freezers and reefers and the like.

Did you ever get a response from them?

I agree with bluesky , a backup of some type is great to have. I put a generator in a long time ago when an ice storm knocked us out for a few days. I use a cpap, and I think I would die without being able to use it when I sleep. Plus we froze ...

Try gentlecure.com. Some type of low power radiation to cure skin cancers.
I discussed it with my surgeon before he “Mike Tysoned” my ear. He was obviously biased but did say for some lesions that weren’t very deep it may be a solution but for mine it was not the right choice and “gentlecure” can take up to thirty separate treatments to be effective.

Almost two weeks out and I am doing nicely and I do hope the nerves grow back over time.

It's great your doing ok. Nerves in your ear, I dont think I would worry about them. Unless of course you have someone nibbling on them...
But nerves do regenerate, jyst really slow. There are some suppliments that are suppose to help, if you want to go that route...

Today there is a new problem. Went to flush the toilet last night and it didn't refill. No water from tap. Went out and the cistern wasn't full so I moved the lever for the float and it started filling, but I didn't hear the jet pump come on. Either the wires, the switch, or the pump itself burned out. Friend is going to take a look at it first chance he gets.

I wonder if damage could have been done during the power bump(s)?
