No basement here. One story home. Not sure if we could get all of the animals out. Tempted to see if I can find a way to lock them all in the front room while we deep clean the kitchen. We used to be able to do that but my brother got mad about some trash (his own trash) that had fallen on the floor, kicked it, and broke one of the glass panes on the french doors to the front room. I suppose we'd have to clean up the front room a bit more first too. Got a bunch of stuff stored in there.

I think clearing the kitchen and living room and trying to get rid of the roaches in those rooms would be a good start. I've tried the bait traps. They just dance right over them.

At least the fan I put under the modem seems to be keeping the roaches off the bottom of the modem (which is where the plugs are).

Ludington, I still need some more work on the bathroom but its useable so I'm happy with that. Plan to add some shelves and/or cabinets at some point. Need storage for things.

Do what you like, but you're setting yourself up for one more failure.
.Shrug.

I forgot to add that I would use roach traps, diatomaceous earth, and roach spray in the kitchen with the kitties locked out. Would do the same with the living room. Need to get all the junk out so the roaches don't have places to hide/nest.

Today I was troubleshooting the AC some more. The outside compressor didn't come on at first when I turned AC back on. I flipped the breakers off and on (there are two breakers for the AC unit), pulled the thermostat off the wall to check the wires, put it back securely, and once the thermostat stopped saying it was waiting on the equipment I heard the sounds that the cooling was working. Compressor outside was running, but the blower inside kept shutting off. Friend has a migraine so wasn't able to come check. I left it on cool mode while I took out trash and cleaned litterboxes and noticed the sound of the cooling thing went off. Didn't check the compressor at that point though. I set the AC to Off again. Not sure what the problem is, but I know the compressor was working at least briefly.

it's cold all over today, 35 here in sc.. not 23, but still chilly
Same here just outside the armpit of the nation (Washington, DC). Not quite as cold as 23 but right at the freezing point. First day of spring later this evening so there is that.

But it was cold enough for me to put on "two left sox" instead of two left shoes:

I'm currently barefoot with shorts on. It is suppose to be 77 degrees today. Sun is shining, birds are chirping. Can't ask for better weather.

Don't forget....we have a Governor who taxes us for these privileges!
Because he knows y’all deserve it. Y’all don’t care about kids out there and everything causes cancer in California. Geeks, freaks and weirdos out there mixed with retired cops and neighbor handymen. Sprinkle in a overpriced plumber and it’s a California dreaming utopia

Ya make me want to listen to the "Mamas and the Papas" California Dreamin' right now!

I know, a bit before your time, young'un!

yeah, I absolutely love South Dakota!

It was so warm last night that we slept with the ceiling fan on in the bedroom last night. I slept like a baby, but probably because I was exhausted.

I had to trench a 30' line across my grass, so all my planters were all on one zone, planted about 40 new plants in the front yard. I planted 40 new plants in the front yard, ran new drip irrigation to all plants, and added 3 scoops of red bark to the planters.

I also found my front yard sewer clean out finally, after 9 years of searching. It happened to be directly where I was going to plant one of my plants. Problem with this clean out is the fact that it is in a 12" concrete pipe, about 3' underground, and don't know how it could be accessed if needed.

It's been in the 40s at night and early morning. It's currently 69. giggety.

New dilemma has come up. Mom somehow lost all her tax info/paperwork to do the taxes. She put it in an envelope labelled TAXES 2023 but its empty. She was losing it earlier and getting mad at me bc she couldn't find the envelope. Well, she found it but nothing is in it and I have no idea what happened to the stuff. It might be in a bin. I'm hoping it didn't fall on the floor and that I didn't mistake it for trash and throw it out. If we can't find it, I'll have to figure out how to request all the info on how to get the forms sent to her again. I wonder if an employee who prepares taxes for say H&R block could do the requesting for a free. Might be worth it just to make sure it gets done. I know she gets SSI, federal pension from OPM, & military pension from DOD, plus she gets interest on savings accounts. So she has to get the info from the banks and other aforementioned agencies. Not sure it can arrive in time though. She never received stuff she requested from OPM a few years ago and it was over a year (possibly 2) before I got something I requested from DOD. Really hoping the papers will turn up somewhere though.

So, I looked for the forms, picked up stuff around Mom's computer chair (dogs dragged a bunch of paper bowls and empty food containers under there and she'd been dropping stuff on the floor again) and reminded her that roaches love trash. Have to take her to an appointment with the diabetes specialist later today.
