Hi folks,

Wondering if you can help me. I am currently trying to install a water softener. I see two pipes coming from the wall I wondering if anyone can tell me which is the inlet coming into the house or maybe propose a method on how I figure this out. So far the two faucet things do shut the water off, but want to make sure I cut the right pipe. I am guessing the left one but its so oddly shaped. Also does anyone know what the metal bracket things are?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Ken

Screw the bracket not important and should be removed. Turn off the water service to your house and cut the copper above the gate valve. Replace the gate valves with ball valves and turn them off.....get a bucket and turn the water service on. Now open the ball valve (one at a time please) and see what side is pressurized. That would be your inlet for the water softener.

You will be receiving a bill from me for this valuable service.

Omg! This helped there are arrows on the valves. Will cut the pipe below and replace that one valve. There is no valve outside the house, but this will do.

I will suggest that you find another way to turn the water off besides right there before you start work. Maybe at the water meter there’s a valve.

This is what I see outside. I labeled them A, B, and C. Let me know which is the shut off valve. There is also another valve that is in front of the hose that is connected to the lawn hose. Thanks all.
