I just moved into a new house in Alabama. The previous owner moved the washing machine down to the basement. The drain for the washing machine is tied into the sewer stack that's exiting the house through the basement.

My wife tried doing the laundry and we were left with about 1" of water in the bottom of the bowl. I attached a couple of pictures. Can someone please take a look at how the drain is hooked up to the sewer stack and give me some advice on if its up to code/is it right/how can I fix my problem?

Thanks

Ok that makes sense. Thanks for the help, that will definitely be the best long term solution.

Is there some kind of quick fix or something I could do right now just so we can get some clothes washed? I still don't understand what they were trying to do with how it was set up last time.

...whew...

I thought it was going to be another Fri afternoon in the service truck trying to find that damn LH monkey wrench... :(
