Hello. I am helping a client find a water meter with specific requirements that will work for a large drinking-fountain replacement project. The water meter needs to be powerless as battery-operated meters are too much of a maintenance nightmare and electrical plug-ins would require too much electrical re-work to wire. Does anyone know of a powerless water meter that will work for drinking fountains? And have any of you had any good (or bad) experiences with this kind of meter/project?

Thank you very much!

A large majority of water meters do not require power.
What is a "large drinking-fountain replacement project"?

You can get NSF certified lead free, turbine meters with half inch fittings. They run about $70 on Amazon, and can probably be sourced through most supply houses.
