Hello,

We had our gas water heater replaced after leak. Due to new code, the new water heater has an expansion tank. Otherwise same exact brand as we had before. Since this is in place, we have been hearing pop noises in the house. It happens when run is running or not. Noises frequency increased right after water is used. Can be any faucet. We have gotten 3 plumbers to look at it and installed a PRV. We also tried shutting off main water source and drained all faucets. No luck so far. This is driving me insane. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

How hot is your water compared to what it use to be ?

You may have pipes expanding.

Good question, maybe a bit hotter? It’s set to “C”. Should we change to “A”? Thanks

Try turning it down some but you’ll need to use some of that very hot water to cool the tank down to the new temp setting before you check if turning it down helped.

Hi,

After turning the temperature setting to “A”, we hear less of the pop noise, however, not completely gone. Anything else we can try? Thanks

Thank you so much, will give that a try. Have a good weekend!
Hi, could the noise issue caused by the thermal expansion tank? Even though it is new, can it be faulty? Thanks
