Water has been working intermittently. I bought a pipe to connect to the pitless adapter, but it isn't screwing in. It'll start, but suddenly it pops out. There's a lot of corrosion in the pipe, the casing is rusting in chunks. I think chunks of rust are in the pitless adapter. How would I go about cleaning it? I have a pressure washer; would that be safe to use on it? Could the pitless adapter be stripped?

Right now, the water level is above the adapter; earlier, it wasn't.
