Hi all,

After countless YouTube search and trips to lowes and Home Depot, I am at a road block and hope y’all can shed some light. I am trying to remove this cartridge but it doesn’t want to come out. This set up is totally different from others that show taking it out very easy. I am a single mom and been trying to change this. I even tried using the puller that most people say use with the moen but this model is a pfister. I didn’t want to pull too hard and risk breaking the Cartridge.

Any thoughts please.

Thank you

Who told you that is a pfister faucet and have you located a new cartridge ? If you do have a new cartridge, please provide the model number of the cartridge.

I see wrench flats on this nut…..unscrew counterclockwise with the water turned off to the valve.

The cover plate says pfister and when I showed the Home Depot lowes plumbing they said you need to take off the cartridge In order for us to see what you need. That but is stuck how does removing that peace will enable me to remove the cartridge? The cartridge is smaller than the housing so does that but hold the cartridge in place?

i tried removing that nut for days and have soaked in vinegar alcohol and it won’t move also the white stem looks really long compared to other pfister cartridge.

I really don’t think removing that nut will help me remove the cartridge right?

Also there are 2 flat head nuts I don’t touch correct?

Thank you so much for relying so fast. I owe you.

The wrench flats I marked in blue is where you need a large socket to fit and turn counterclockwise.

That is what’s holding the cartridge in.

So the cartridge is that big metal piece too that I circle in red? So I need to buy a plumber wrench because that socket is at least 4 inches deep to get to the nut.

There is only 2 groove if looking at the pic straight the groove is at 1 o clock and the other groove is at 6 o clock.
I have never seen a nut like that I looked at it closely so I don’t think I can use a socket on that?

You’ll need to get a socket or a wrench to fit that.

That needs to come off and then your cartridge will come out.

The flat head screws on each side of the valve are stop valves.

Personally I’d leave those alone if I could. I’d turn the water off at the main valve to work on the faucet.

Gonna use some pb blaster and wait for 10 minute and hope I can break that but lose with a crescent wrench.

Which one I was thinking the crescent over the adjustable?

whatever you do be very careful not to cut yourself on that exposed cut tile edge. It’ll slice you open like a razor.

That nut not coming out. I don’t think they make sockets for 2 groove plus the groove are so narrow that it’ll slip. I tried with the crescent and it’s not budging :(.

I suggest you contact pfister and send your photos and ask for a wrench or the size wrench so you can buy one.

You might want to just bite the bullet and call a local plumber. I think your going to end up breaking something on
that faucet and then your not going to be able to turn your water back on.

I called one of the techs and they said it’s a Home Depot glacier bay and said you need to get the nut off so I called a local plumber and he wants $500. Which is insane

Yeah, I didn’t think it was a pfister because it didn’t match any of the cartridges that I’ve seen. That’s why I asked you who told you it was pfister.

Call Glacer Bay tech support and ask what size wrench

It’s a Joe Biden economy, don’t forget to vote.

I was gonna say NOT Pfister.
So I paid the plumber $300 to pull the nut out and took the cartridge to a specialty store in Dallas and they match it up but when I try to install does the nipple go up or down? The plumber took it out but I don’t know if the nipple faces up or down? Any thoughts. The valve has 2 holes on top and bottom.

I see two plastic "pegs" on the cartridge. When you slide the cartridge into, do the pegs slip into place with corresponding holes with the pegs UP or DOWN, or equally in both directions? Whichever direction they go HOME in (and the cartridge goes in deepest) should be the correct way.
On the other hand, Glacier Bay tech support is still there to answer your question.
