Is This Valve Service-able?

This valve was installed in 1941. She works but does not seal all the way tight so a slight pressure gets through. Any guidance appreciated, is this valve service-able?

I can't see how it's joined to the pipe I'm sure it's threaded you can get a new style

Expand the picture you will see the chrome drain going into the floor, bet it's a claw foot tub.

It’s a lavatory

That stop was made by American a standard. It’s 3/8” ips.

It may have a washer on the stem you can replace but it may be a ground joint without a washer and may be pitted.

The issue is a lot of times those chromed brass nipples they’re screwed onto get rotten at the threads and will break off when working on them. You t break off later and floood your house.
