I recently moved to a new place that has a wall mounted rain showerhead in both bathrooms. I've attached screenshots showing the showerhead and a close up of where it connects to the wall. I want to replace them with showerheads that have a hose, but I can't figure out how to remove this one.. do I need to remove the whole thing, including the arm, from the wall? If so, what kind of tool do I need? I've tried twisting and tugging at the connection of the head itself to the arm but it's not getting any looser, and I don't even know if it's supposed to.

I would guess that it just unscrews.
Did you try loosening the allen set screw in the flange?
I would try using a large adjustable flat jaw wrench and try to unscrew it.

Thanks for the tip! The head itself did eventually come off when we used a wrench and a lot of force. If you look really closely you can see that it's not completely circular.
