I've used slip couplings on copper, PVC, and CPVC with no problems, but I can't figure out how to make one work on a 2" ABS vent I had to relocate. It won't slip on dry at all, and while it might slide on with some cement to lubricate it, with my luck it would set up before I could slip it over the mating pipe. For this job, I gave up and used a Fernco shielded coupling, but for the future, what's the secret?

Mikey, I have had them also where they wouldn't slide on without the cement. I didn't use them. I would go get another repair
coupling and try it on a piece of pipe before you leave. Then you know that when you glue it up it will slide up and down like
it is suppose to. Good Luck....
