I have 3/4" regular copper plumbing at my house. I want to insert a YF-B5 flow sensor[1] in line. The YF-B5 has male threaded DN20 connections on both sides.

I have been trying to find a 3/4" female solder to 3/4" female DN20 adapter, but all I seem to be able to find is 3/4" female solder to 3/4" female FIPS.

I suspect I'm not searching with the right name, but does anyone know where I can find an adapter/connector that will allow me to splice this flow sensor into my existing 3/4" copper pipe?

Thanks!

Frankly, no plumbing supply house touches metric in the USA. So, your web searching will have to do...I did plumbing in Bali (where they use metric products) and wanted to round up more supplies here to bring and absolutely found it was not worth the effort.

Better: Buy something with domestic NPT threads.
AND make sure if you have a flow sensor, put easy change union connectors on. They fail readily.

You’ll need to do this in brass or stainless.

The above would require both fittings to adapt you over. Im
Sure you can find it in one fitting.

If you don’t want to order it on eBay, call any good hydraulic or instrumentation fitting supplier and talk to a salesman. They won’t have copper, you’ll need to do brass or stainless then convert to copper.

Thanks for the quick reply. I suspected as much. But I have not seen a flow sensor that has NPT threads. If anyone can recommend something, I'd be very thankful.

Of course, then I'd be asking the same question, but for a solder sweat fitting to whatever the connector is on the flow sensor. 😉

@breplum, is there an easy change union you'd recommend?

I figured I'd have to make a little riser from the existing pipe so there would be enough play to tighten the compression fittings.

Where the ### is the sweat fitting and the sensor.

Thanks a bunch @Twowaxhack. I've actually found the brass adapters to get from DN20 to NPT and back, but it's a bit clunkier than I was hoping. I'd rather just find a flow sensor that can couple directly with an available adapter if at all possible. I just figure less parts is less sh*t to go wrong/leak.
