Hi all,
New "old" home purchase:
Here is a pic of our current shower pipe/head configuration. Forgive the non-plumbing wording since we are DIYers.
Problem #1: The pipe that goes into the wall is unfortunately not going anywhere without demo-ing the entire fiberglass surround. It sticks out super far (8-10 inches?) and we cannot force it further back into the wall cavity.
We have no idea what to do since it appears we'd have to rip out the surround to access the pipe to replace it with one that doesn't stick out of the wall so far. Ideas???
Problem #2: Whoever put it in must have been short, too, because my poor husband tried to shower and the showerhead was only up to his neck and he is only 6'.
So, hubby's solution was to rotate the pipe that goes into the wall into an upward configuration and then headed to Lowes to get some sort of pipe to arc it back down at the higher height. There was nothing there that was decorative (i.e. chrome etc) that would work (M to F), so he had to settle for ugly galvanized piping and connectors.
It now sticks out 14"+. While it is now functional, it looks ridiculous and ugly. What can we do differently to make this not look so bad?
Thanks!
